The purpose of this Teach In is to address health concerns related to historic groundwater contamination in South Tucson, also known as TCE ( Trichloroethylene ) Spill/ Contamination .
This event is an opportunity for your voice to be heard to receive education, to connect with health resources, and to work together to understand how the environment affects our community’s health .
What we know about the Water and the Community Health Today
Cancer & Birth Defect Rates in South Tucson compared to the rest of Pima County
Information about where your drinking water comes from, how it’s treated and how it is distributed
What doctors can and can’t tell you about environmental exposures and your health
Exposures to chemicals in the environment
Investigating community health concerns for the future
Also EJTF Tucson will provide information about how o connect with your community and help oput including encourage you to start or join a community group .
Coping with the stress that environmental contamination can cause in your community is also a factor that we can not ignore therefore ATSDR approach method and fact sheet will also be provided to anyone who is interested in more information on behavioral health issues related to stress that environmental contamination can cause .
Thank you all for your public participation and volunteer work regarding the EJTF Tucson group and members past & current without your participation we could have never got this far .
